The National Institute for Health and Environment in the Netherlands has developed a new tool to help companies and researchers evaluate exposure by simulating how nanomaterials will act when used as part of an aerosol spray.

The ConsExpo Nano, which was developed as part of the NanoNextNI project, Predictive Modeling of Human Exposure, determines the magnitude and duration of the alveolar load of a nanomaterial by estimating the external aerosol concentration. Using this data, the tool is able to provide a variety of dose metrics for a user to evaluate exposure. The tool reflects the current state of knowledge on nanomaterials exposure assessment and will be continually updated as new research is available.
