“New developments on the evaluation and control of workers exposure to nanomaterials” workshop was held 3rd of December. The workshop was focused on disseminate the European project LIFE NanoRisk (LIFE12 ENV/ES/178) developments, funded by the LIFE Programme+ Política y Gobernanza.

Its main goal is to minimize human and environmental risks from overexposure to nanoparticles and study the effectiveness of personal and collective protective equipment for nanomaterials.

During the workshop the main topics were:

  • Nanotechnology applications, its vast potential for new products development and the main properties that could reach traditional and emerging fields.
  • Identify the main legal requirements for the use of nanomaterials and its placement on the market.
  • Current methods to evaluate the exposure of nanomaterials and the threshold value recommended.
  • Protection and control of exposure measures.
  • Experience gathered with LIFE NanoRISK project: exposure scenarios and exposure ranges in industrial environments.
